Top trio of seeds through to second round; No. 4 seed ousted in straight sets

The top three seeds in Bastad, Sweden all won their debut matches on Day 2, two of them in straight sets, and the other in three sets, while the No. 4 seed fell in tough straight sets.

Top seed Caroline Wozniacki wasn't troubled by opponent Sofia Arvidsson, as the Dane beat the Swede with a score of 61 63.

No. 2 seed Dominika Cibulkova was the seed who went to three sets, against wildcard Sandra Roma, but managed to advance after winning, 63 26 61.

No. 3 seed Flavia Pennetta had an easy time on court against Francesca Schiavone, and won 62 75.

Kaia Kanepi, who was the No. 4 seed, wasn't as lucky as the other seeds in action, as she was ousted in her first match against Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, 61 76(1).
