Pennetta pleases home crowd by defeating countrywoman to win title in Palermo

Flavia Pennetta was finally able to win a tournament in front of her home crowd, as she ousted compatriot Sara Errani to win the Internazionali Femminili di Palermo crown.

Top seeded Pennetta was able to execute her win in easy straight sets, as she ousted the No. 5 seed with a score of 61 62.

"I'm really happy about the final today. I lost to Sara last year in a very tough match, so when I was going on the court today I was very focused and knew what I had to do to beat someone like her - to keep my mistakes down," Pennetta said. "It is the first time I've won a title here in Italy. And it's even more special with my family and friends here watching and supporting me."

This is Pennetta's seven WTA Tour title overall, and the head-to-head result between Pennetta and Errani is now 2-1 to Pennetta.
