German clinches first WTA Tour title in Bad Gastein after win to Romanian

Andrea Petkovic was a surprise finalist in Bad Gastein, Austria but she came out on top against fellow unseeded player Ioana Raluca Olaru to win her first WTA Tour title at the Gastein Ladies.

Petkovic didn't have any trouble against the Romanian, and easily closed out the match with a score of 62 63. In fact, Petkovic had never been past the quarterfinals of an event before this.

"I played very well in the first set. I was hitting hard and putting a lot of pressure on her with my serves and returns. In the second set I was fighting with myself because I thought I could really win this, and my nerves were a bit tough to deal with. But I'm happy I kept calm," Petkovic said. "I'm very happy. It's the best moment of my career. I hope I can keep playing like this and build on it."

The head-to-head score between Petkovic and Olaru is now 2-2.
