No. 3 seed through to semis; No. 8 seed ousted by wildcard on Thursday in Prague

There was a big upset on Day 4 at the ECM Prague Open, as the No. 8 seed was ousted in straight sets by a wildcard, while the No. 3 seed advanced to the semifinals after winning in tough straight sets.

No. 3 seed Iveta Benesova was in a tough position against opponent Monica Niculescu, but managed to overcome her Romanian opponent, 75 64.

No. 8 seed Petra Kvitova was the only seed to be out of the draw on Thursday, as the Czech fell to wildcard Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan, 64 62.

The other two winners of the day were Kateryna Bondarenko, who won to Kristina Barrois 75 75; and qualifier Timea Bacsinszky, who ousted Stefanie Voegele, 64 61.
