Top seed advances to quarterfinals; three other seed ousted on Day 3 in Portoroz

Top seed Dinara Safina was in very good form on Wednesday in Portoroz, Slovenia, as the Russian advanced after an easy win over a qualifier, while the No. 4, 6 and 7 seeds were all ousted, the No. 4 seed in straight sets, and the other two in three sets.

Safina wasn't challenged by countrywoman Ksenia Pervak, as Safina won the match with a score of 61 62.

No. 4 seed Roberta Vinci was demolished by Rossana de los Rios with a score of 63 64.

No. 6 seed Lucie Safarova suffered a loss to Stefanie Voegele, as the Swiss player won the match with a score of 75 26 63.

No. 7 seed Vera Dushevina was the last seed to play on Day 3, and the day didn't end well for the Russian, as she lost to Maria Elena Camerin, 46 75 60.
