Sharapova gets beaten by Pennetta; Stosur wins to Cirstea to get to final

Maria Sharapova's run ended on Day 6 in Los Angeles, as the Russian failed to pass her test against No. 10 seed Flavia Pennetta, who will meet Samantha Stosur in the final for the crown.

Sharapova lost the first set with an easy score, but gained strength to win the second set. In the third set, Pennetta went up 5-3 on Sharapova's serve. On the first match point at 30-40, Sharapova went for her shots, and hit a crosscourt winner. The second match point was the last one, as Sharapova missed a forehand wide at advantage to Pennetta.

Pennetta will face 13th seeded Stosur, who didn't have any trouble against Sorana Cirstea, winning 63 62.
