Kuznetsova advances on Day 4 in New Haven

On Wednesday, the top three seeds all advanced to the quartefinals, while two seeds went crashing out, which were No. 5 seed Agnieszka Radwanska and No. 9 seed Samantha Stosur.

Top seed Svetlana Kuznetsova was in many tough positions in her match against qualifier Yanina Wickmayer, but managed to play well when it mattered, as the Russian won the match with a score of 64 57 76(2).

No. 2 seed Caroline Wozniacki wasn't challenged by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and easily won with a score of 64 61.

No. 3 seed Flavia Pennetta had a tough match against Iveta Benesova, but won, 76(1) 64.

Radwanska wasn't ready for her match against Virginie Razzano, as the two were even with a score of 36 64, when the Pole retired with a right hand injury.

Stosur played a full match, but that didn't help her win, as the Australian lost to Elena Vesnina with a score of 63 64 64.

No. 6 seed Marion Bartoli, who played in the night match, lost to Magdalena Rybarikova, with a score of 16 76(5) 20, when Bartoli retired with a injury.
