No. 5 seed Vera Zvonareva won to No. 11 seed Marion Bartoli, when the Frenchwoman retired with blisters on both feet. The score was 5-2 to the Russian.
Virgine Razzano won her match to Daniela Hantuchova, 62 16 62.
