The first set was toughly won by the Russian, but early in the second set Cibulkova had already retired due to a left adductor injury. The final score was 64 10.
"I feel sorry she couldn't finish the match," the world No. 3 said. "We played a few times before and it was always interesting so hopefully next time we'll finish. I'm going to practice again now because we didn't play long and there were things I wasn't too happy about in my game."
No. 5 seed Caroline Wozniacki won her quarterfinal match to No. 13 seed Virginie Razzano 62 60, and will face Dementieva for a spot in the final.
No. 6 seed Marion Bartoli ousted Melinda Czink 64 61, and will next face No. 16 seed Sabine Lisicki, who demolished Elena Vesnina 64 60.
