Dane ousts Dementieva; Lisicki awaits

Top seed Elena Dementieva seemed to be in great shape throughout the week, but her run ended in the semis of the Family Circle Cup, as she lost to No. 5 seed Caroline Woznaicki in three tough sets.

The Dane won the first set to the Russian, but then Dementieva took action and took the second set. The third ended when Wozniacki fired a forehand winner down the line. The final score was 64 57 75.

"It felt so good," Wozniacki said of the match-winning shot. "I only had that shot to win the point, because she was covering the whole net. I only had this much space to put it in, and when I saw it go through, I just knew it was going to go in."

The bottom half of the draw featured a match-up between No. 16 seed Sabine Lisicki and No. 6 seed Marion Bartoli. The German won the match in easy straight sets to the Frenchwoman, the score being 63 61.
