Jankovic survives quarterfinal scare; No. 3 seed ousted in three sets

No. 2 seed Jelena Jankovic is still holding, as she had a very tough battle against world No. 67 Roberta Vinci, winning in three sets which took 2 hours and 42 minutes.

The Serb lost the opening set easily, but the fought to take the second set with the same score she lost the first, and in the third set both of the player fought like animals, and Jankovic managed to close it out in a very close tiebreak. The final score was 36 63 76(6).

Other winners of the day were No. 4 seed Anabel Medina Garrigues, who won to No. 6 seed Sara Errani 62 67(4) 75; No. 5 seed Carla Suarez Navarro, who demolished Klara Zakopalova 61 62; and No. 7 seed Sorana Cirstea, who ousted No. 3 seed Kaia Kanepi 64 26 75.
