Shuai ousts Sharapova in straight sets; Kuznetsova wins in three on Wednesday in Beijing

After a three-hour marathon win against Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova was out of strength to win against her next opponent, Peng Shuai, after losing in straight sets, while No. 6 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova lost the second set to win her match on Wednesday in Beijing.

Despite looking like she was going to perform another comeback at going from 5-2 to 5-4, and even getting to deuce, Sharapova fell to Peng with an easy score of 62 64.

Kuznetsova won the first set with an easy score, but then lost the second to her opponent Alona Bondarenko. In the third, Kuznetsova powered up to win the set with a bagel. The final score was 63 46 60.

"I was a little disappointed to lose the second set, but I stayed in the match, which was important," Kuznetsova said. "The courts suit my game. I like coming back here every year."
