Vesnina surprises Mauresmo for spot in final; Wozniacki awaits

After rain shifted the schedule on Friday, the two semifinal matches were moved indoors and completed, as No. 2 seed Caroline Wozniacki dismissed No. 3 seed Flavia Pennetta, and Elena Vesnina surprised No. 8 seed Amelie Mauresmo to get to the final in New Haven.

Wozniacki had no trouble ousted Pennetta, as the Dane easily won with a score of 64 61, while Vesnina defeated Mauresmo in a three-setter, 57 61 62.

Wozniacki and Vesnina have a head-to-head result of 2-1, with Wozniacki in the lead, their last meeting being in Ponte Vedra Beach, where Wozniacki won.
