On Day 4 of the AIG Japan Open, top seed Caroline Woznaicki reserved a spot in the quarterfinals, along with four unseeded players, while the No. 2 seed fell in straight sets.
Anabel Medina Garrigues was the ousted seed on Thursday, as she fell to Samantha Stosur of Australia, 61 75.
Other victors of the day were Wozniacki, who advanced also in straight sets, to Ayumi Morita, 62 61; No. 8 seed Aleksandra Wozniak ousted Ryoko Fuda, 61 61; Klara Zakopalova routed Marta Domachowska with a 63 60 win; and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova gained victory against Rika Fujiwara, 62 64.
